QVEC Dispatch EquipmentIn May of 2000, QV dispatch had to relocate its entire operation. Our center was housed side by side for many years on the first floor of the State Police Troop D barracks. Due to an upgrade in their dispatching system, QV moved to the second floor. We took this opportunity to upgrade our dispatch equipment as well. Due to space restrictions in our new quarters, QV chose to purchase a computer driven touch screen dispatching system. This modern equipment is manufactured by Orbacom, Inc. We now control our entire dispatching duties (toning and radio communications) from one multi-layered computer screen. We have three operating positions that are linked to a central computer in the basement which transmits out to all out area tower locations. This new system, combined with the State of Connecticut's new Enhanced E911 equipment, provides QVEC with state of the art hardware to carry us into the 21st century. Also at our disposal is our Computer Aided Dispatch system by New World Systems which allows to better pinpoint addresses using cross-streets on either side of a given address. We are able to enter our incident cards, generate reports and fax hard copies out to area stations. All these components together make up your regional 911 center. We extend to all department officers an invitation to stop by and view our new equipment.
