NARROW BANDING
The FCC has set the final date of January 1, 2011 to modify existing wideband systems to expand coverage and to manufacture and import 25kHz capable equipment
THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR WIDEBAND OPERATIONS IS JANUARY 1, 2013
- Narrowbanding does not require moving to another frequency band
- It merely involves reducing the bandwidth of the channel(s) you are currently licensed on.
- Most radios purchased in the last 7 to 9 years are already narrowband capable.  They only need to be re-tuned
-Converting to digital is not required
The year 2013 may seem a long way off, but it is better to plan early and chart a path to a narrow-band future
